Arvan was originally part of the Lyrran Kingdom until the attack on the City of Arvan in
1E 1095T. After the revolution and defeat of Lyrr, Arvan established itself as a sovereign nation with a new government and constitution in 1E 1155T. Arvan experienced periods of growth, expansion, and prosperity, eventually becoming a major regional power. The Congress of Standards was established as the highest legislative body in Arvan, and the Ministry of Compliance was created to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Today, Arvan remains a federalized constitutional democracy with a vibrant economy and a diverse population.
The City of Arvan was founded by a branch of the Lyrr family that had settled outside of present-day Lyrr during its conquest era. The family had been tasked by the King of Lyrr at the time, who was from the Lyrr family, to pioneer and explore the lands they had conquered. The city was named in honor of the king, who may have been called Arvan Lyrr.
Over time, the City of Arvan grew in size and became a prosperous trade hub, with its strategic location at the strait between the Estra pangea and the small desert island of Xanth. The city developed a unique culture and identity, distinct from that of Lyrr, with its own traditions, customs, and political system.
Taren Lyrr arrived in the Lyrran capital hoping to make contact with his family and reclaim his rightful place as a member of the Lyrr dynasty. However, instead of being welcomed back into the fold, he was immediately taken before the King and his council of nobles.
The King and his advisors were alarmed at the implications of Taren's existence, and feared that his resemblance to a Root would inspire rebellion among the subjugated Roots in the capital and surrounding cities. The Elder family, who had split into the Elder and Alder families after a scandal involving a bastard heir, were especially supportive of eliminating any evidence of the Lyrr family.
Despite Taren's protests and claims, the King and his council decided to eliminate him and all evidence of his lineage. Taren was executed in a public ceremony, and Lyrran soldiers were dispatched to the city of Arvan to investigate and eliminate any remaining members of the Lyrr family.
The soldiers arrived in Arvan and discovered evidence of the Lyrr family's existence, including records and artifacts that corroborated Taren's story. The command was given to kill all Lyrr family members and take any Roots in the city as prisoners. The city of Arvan was razed to the ground, and all evidence of the Lyrr family's existence was destroyed.
Unbeknownst to the Lyrran soldiers, two brothers, Darien and Kael Lyrr, had been away from the city when the soldiers arrived. They returned to find their family and city destroyed, and all evidence of their lineage gone. The two brothers were the last surviving members of the Lyrr family, and their fate was uncertain.
Darien and Kael Lyrr were two brothers who escaped the massacre of their family at the hands of the Lyrran king and his forces. They were in Xanth, a desert island south of the Estran pagea, at the time of the attack and returned to find their family destroyed and their city, Arvan, razed to the ground.
With no family or heritage left, the brothers became known as "the Wanderers" and traveled the land, searching for a purpose and a way to avenge their family. They found their calling in the growing rebellion against Lyrr's oppressive rule.
The Wanderers traveled from village to village, spreading their message of freedom and rallying the people to their cause. They were highly charismatic and were able to inspire even the most apathetic of Lyrrans to join their rebellion.
Over time, the Wanderers became leaders of the rebellion, organizing attacks on Lyrran forces and securing the support of the people. They were strategic and resourceful, using guerrilla tactics to disrupt Lyrran supply lines and gain advantages in battles.
Their biggest victory came when they were able to ambush a large Lyrran military convoy, killing the majority of the soldiers and capturing a significant amount of weapons and supplies. This was a major turning point in the rebellion, as the Wanderers were able to arm their followers and become a more formidable force.
As the rebellion grew in strength, Lyrr became more desperate and sent increasingly large military units to quell the uprising. However, the Wanderers and their followers were able to successfully fend off the Lyrran forces, using their knowledge of the terrain and superior tactics to their advantage.
In the final battle, the Lyrran forces were made up solely of nobles from the 10 families, as the common roots had largely defected to the rebel side. The battle was a protracted one, with both sides suffering heavy losses. However, the rebel forces, led by the Wanderers, were able to emerge victorious in the end.
With the rebellion's success, the nation of Arvan was born, with its own government and leaders. Darien and Kael did not assume leadership of the new nation but instead installed their first followers as leaders and disappeared from all public view. They became legendary figures, with stories of their heroism and leadership continuing to inspire future generations.
